What is Apricot Seed Oil and why is it good for your skin?
Known scientifically as Prunus Armeniaca, apricots were originally cultivated in China over 3,000 years ago. Today, they are so much more than just a tasty fruit you might add to your breakfast bowl. Apricots are one of our favourite hero ingredients, so we thought it was time to share why we love them so much.
Apricots are rich in minerals, organic acids and phenolic compounds that benefit your skin. Apricot Fruit Extract, also called Kernel Oil, is obtained from the dried seeds of the fruit. The ingredient nourishes the skin and supports its natural moisture balance. That’s why we use it in all of our Blush Serums and Glow Serum.
How does Apricot Seed Oil care for your skin?
Because Apricot Seed Oil is a very mild natural oil, it’s gentle on even the most sensitive skin. Its anti-inflammatory properties can ease the symptoms of skin disorders like dermatitis and eczema. It’s also rich in Vitamins C and A, making it perfect for sensitive skin.
Maintains skin clarity
Easily absorbed into your skin, Apricot Oil can hydrate your skin without clogging your pores and causing spots and dullness. Used in skincare products, it can remove blackheads and ease other types of skin congestion. When used in a scrub, Apricot can improve your overall skin tone by exfoliating away the damaged skin cells. It reduces pigmentation and reveals the newer, lighter skin cells beneath. It’s especially helpful for oily skin.
Makes your skin supple
Rich in fatty acids, apricot products can make your skin more soft and supple with their moisturising properties. Acting as an emollient, it helps to keep your skin cells hydrated and counteracts any drying effects associated with exfoliating your skin, creating a healthier and softer skin surface. Its Omega-6 fatty acids work to calm and soothe skin, making it ultra supple.
This natural ingredient fights the signs of ageing. Natural Apricot Seed Oil contains Gamma Linoleum Acid, which is useful for firming and toning your skin. It also contains Vitamin A and E to soothe and slow down the ageing process. It has nourishing properties and an anti-inflammatory effect to soothe eczema. The antioxidants in apricots protect the skin from the effects of free radicals, which can lead to skin deterioration and signs of premature ageing.
